LEVEL 1 GRADINGS

LEVEL ONE QUALIFICATION

To retain a Level One qualification, umpires should be graded members of MHUA or meet the criteria of eligibility and competence as follows: -

MHUA may make any other enquiries as it sees fit. If either of the above criteria is not met, the Level One qualification may be withdrawn.

CLASSIFICATION WITHIN LEVEL ONE

All level one umpires are classified 1A, 1B, 1C or 1D.

Level 1 Trainee

Umpire who has passed the written test in the previous 12 months but has not yet passed the practical assessment. Trainees should be coached by their Club or MHUA if inexperienced.

Please note that the Women’s South and Middlesex Leagues will enforce the strict application of all these grades. The Men’s South League require an INSURED Level One qualified Umpire (any classification) for all their league matches.

FREE INSURANCE is available to all umpires by joining the Middlesex Hockey Umpires Association as a Member. Associate (non-qualified) and Registered (qual. Level 1) membership is available to all those who do not wish to take appointments from MHUA but be free to continue umpiring for their club.

The annual membership fee is £8 and brings not only the free insurance but also the additional benefits of free rulebooks, attending coaching meetings and receiving advice on umpiring matters. If you wish to join, please contact Colin Howard on 01895-230027.
